It occurs to me that the current attempt by some parties to nullify the ties between God and state have another insidious hidden intent.


Thomas Jefferson wrote and the other Founding Fathers, through the powers they held by those they represented, ratified the Declaration of Independence. In this the first of America’s founding documents they did declare the intention, “…to assume among the powers of the earth (various other nations) the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them.”


The Founders are declaring to the world at large that, in this country, God Almighty is the source of our individual freedom and liberty.


In this next most beauteous sentence they lay the foundation for the Revolution and establishment of the government to follow.


“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”


In other words we are basing our claim for all this upon the right of The Creator to ordain we his children with these rights, freedoms and responsibilities.


The people of America fought, lived and died, suffered, and based their entire earthly fortune upon that simple statement.


And they won the ensuing war! For a brief shining moment each individual in this country held ultimate provenance in their own governance under God and responsible only to God.


But realizing that chaos would likely ensue without formalizing some type of government amongst themselves the people’s representatives gathered in order, “… to secure these rights,” and declared, “Governments are instituted among Men”.


The people were delegating a bit of their ultimate powers, authority and freedoms which they derived from the “Creator” to a government. The reason they intended to do this is stated specifically in the Preamble to the Constitution:


“We the People of the United States, in Order to”:


1. “form a more perfect Union,”

2. “establish Justice,”

3. “insure domestic Tranquility,”

4. “provide for the common defense,”

5. “promote the general Welfare,”

6. ” and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…”


Just in case anyone doubted where the power of the government derived it’s power the assembly unequivocally stated that this new government was, “deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”


The government does NOT grant any power or freedoms to the people…the ONLY authority that the government can exercise is derived FROM the people. The people have also retained all other “unalienable rights” endowed by the Creator.


It is pretty evident that by removing God Almighty from the formula of rights held in America, these people are debasing the entire structure of government. By making the foundations of liberty in this country they seek to eliminate the powers of the people.


America is unique on the entire planet of nations in that we citizens granted power TO the government and we can, through common consent, REMOVE those powers from the government.


But if it is decided that God is no longer our ultimate source of power then we lose our claim to His blessings. The governing powers can and will exercise complete control over our lives.


Total separation of state and God CANNOT occur without the fundamental destruction of America as we know it.


If we fail to dedicate ourselves to the preservation of the foundations of this country then we shall lose all that we hold dear and that for which ourselves and our Fathers have fought so hard.
