Burdens

When I was bowed
heaving beneath the heavy load,

When my heart
shrank in fright from duties call,

When I could not face
life’s hectic pace,

My love,
you took the load,
gave me heart, held me close and
cloistered us within your lovely, haunting spirit’s house.

Now, alone,
I would endure this last parting,

did not I see your face shining
through the darkness, waiting,
to receive my soul, rushing.B
