A Child should remember being quietly followed through the forest by Elves.
A Child should know the feel of warm sand between toes and
a whispering sigh of a summer breeze in the tall pine trees.
A Child should remember sitting on a cold winter’s night by a fire on Grandfather’s
knee listening to a story read as windows rattle and winds whistle.
A Child should catch a wild animal, feel the wildness in the creature’s eye
and know the tremendous reward of releasing it back into Freedom.
A Child should know wild carefree abandon to be free, to stand alone by God.
A Child should adventure in realms not of this world, sweat in labor, and weep in loss.
Every Child ought linger to mentor lest in maturity a soul wither in chains.
